CHAPTER OF THE WEEK
'PKI-enabled services'
This chapter from Understanding PKI, Second Edition by Carlisle Adams and Steve Lloyd looks at the security services that can, in some way, be enabled by a PKI. These are not services inherent in, or fundamental to any PKI, but are services that can build on the core PKI services. Some PKIs may support these auxiliary services, and others may not.

This tip will teach you about some of the benefits and limitations of mixed-mode domains.

    THE MISSING LINK
How many Brits does it take to turn on a PC?

According to a recent study in the U.K., one in seven workers needs help turning their office computers on or off. And one in five needs help saving or printing a document. Government officials are bemoaning this lack of "prerequisite IT skills." If turning on a computer is considered an IT skill, you have to wonder if turning on a microwave is considered a culinary skill. Maybe turning on a calculator is a math skill.
