LEAD STORY
Oracle benchmarks 10g database on Windows  (ENT Magazine)
The latest benchmark tests from the Transaction Processing Performance Council showed that Oracle's new 10g database performed more transactions per minute than Microsoft SQL Server on a similar Windows-based configuration. CHAPTER OF THE WEEK
'PKI-enabled services'
This chapter from Understanding PKI, Second Edition by Carlisle Adams and Steve Lloyd looks at the security services that can, in some way, be enabled by a PKI. These are not services inherent in, or fundamental to any PKI, but are services that can build on the core PKI services. Some PKIs may support these auxiliary services, and others may not.

    ASK PAUL HINSBERG
Wizard won't permit additional Win2k DC
    Dear Paul:
I have a client that has an NT server that is a PDC with the domain name "accounts." Also, the client has a Windows 2000 Server with Active Directory installed with domain name "mycompany.com." Now the client wants to upgrade the NT PDC (domain name: accounts) to Windows 2000 domain controller and add it to the domain name "mycompany.com." But after upgrading the NT PDC, he is unable to join the "mycompany.com" as an additional domain controller. Why won't this work?

    THE MISSING LINK
    Ellison back on Oracle payroll

Poor Larry Ellison -- he hasn't gotten a paycheck in four years! The billionaire has been serving sans salary in exchange for a grant of 40 million stock options he received in 1999. But things have changed. Get ready for the joys of direct deposit, Mr. Ellison. On Sept. 1, the Oracle CEO began getting $900,000 annually, and he's even eligible for a fiscal 2004 bonus. Could "Employee of the Month" be far behind?
