Microsoft to extend Java in Windows (Reuters)
Microsoft has extended support for the Java programming language in Windows past the original deadline of the end of this year. In a joint announcement with Sun Microsystems, which controls Java licenses, Microsoft said the new end date for support will be Sept. 30, 2004. The decision will give customers more time to make the transition between the Java and .NET platforms.

Microsoft shakes up partner program (CNET)
Partners of Microsoft who focus on small and medium-sized businesses will get greater financial incentives from Microsoft under a new program that is expected to be announced at the software maker's partner conference this week in New Orleans. Microsoft has nearly 800,000 partners in the ranks of resellers and consultants.
