MS still bets on 2005 for Longhorn client (CRN)

I heard you can alter a registry key in Windows 2000 Pro to enable some of the functions of Win2k server. I would like to increase the number of file shares from the maximum of 10 to an infinite number (30 would do). This is the only server feature I require, and to purchase the server is an expensive solution. Do you know how I can do this?
