New Longhorn graphics tool called 'Flash killer' (InternetNews.com)
A graphics and animation tool set being developed for the next version of Windows is being described by some as a "Flash killer" in reference to Macromedia's Flash animation tools. The Microsoft tools, code-named Sparkle, would give developers built-in animation capabilities because the tools will be tied to .NET's runtime environment.

One of these days, it won't take just a whim for women (or men) to change the color of their fingernails. It may take just the flip of a switch. A scientist in Spain is working on what you might call "talon technology" that's thin enough to be fitted atop a real nail. If the wearer wants to go from summery silver to a more cold-weathery ruby red, she can just flip a switch rather than litter the bathroom with stained cotton balls and the stench of nail polish remover. If she sees a cool hue at the store, a little camera can take a snapshot and reproduce the color for the nails.
