    IT SURVIVAL KIT
Restoring an AD DC on dissimilar hardware
When your network is down to a single domain controller and your last Active Directory host system goes down, you must restore the network by rebuilding the domain from backups. However, when you do this, you'll find yourself faced with a challenge -- the repaired domain controller computers are no longer comprised of the same hardware as before.
Read this helpful tip to find out how to resolve this issue.

    ASK THE EXPERT
    Personal web pages on IIS
    Dear Tony,
We have IIS installed on a domain controller. We would like to let our domain users have personal Web pages on the same domain with the following address formats: http://our-domain.local/~user1, http://our-domain.local/~user2. Is this possible in IIS, and if so, could you please show us the way to implement it?

    THE MISSING LINK
Red rover, red rover; send Mars pix right over

Houston, we have a hit. NASA's trip to space has been a huge hit in cyberspace -- 250 million hits so far, to be approximate. The landing of the space agency's Spirit rover on Mars is on a course to becoming NASA's biggest Web draw ever. The hits will probably keep on coming, now that color pictures of the red planet are being posted to NASA sites. NASA is using 1,300 servers around this planet to host Web pages containing details of the mission.
