Raise your hand if your job description includes migrating, deploying, administering, managing, configuring, patching, antivirusing or any other --ing having to do with Exchange.

Just as I suspected. You may not have the title of Exchange admin, but you're definitely performing the role. That's why I'm delighted to introduce you to SearchExchange.com, TechTarget's newest information source and IT community. Debra Bulkeley, an experienced technical journalist, will be leading a top-notch group of editors and industry experts whose mission is to bring you up-to-date and relevant information about Exchange, from the desktop to the server. Some highlights of the new site:

  • All the great SearchWin2000.com content about Microsoft messaging from the past four years, now hosted on its own dedicated site.

  • Expanded best-of-the-web topics that include new information on client and application management, server management, mail protocols, maintenance, migration and security.

  • Scott Schnoll will continue to answer member questions in a discussion forum and Ask the Experts. He'll be joined by Lee Benjamin, 'the ExchangeGuy' consultant and Microsoft alum, who will field queries about migrating off Exchange 5.5 and deploying Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003.

  • Expanded tips on security, server administration, Outlook and migration written by well known Exchange authors such as SearchWin2000.com's Serdar Yegulalp and Brien Posey, whose byline regularly appears on Microsoft, CNET, ZDNet and MSD2D.

  • The Exchange Advisor newsletter, a compendium of industry news about Exchange, expert advice and interactive site features delivered directly to your inbox Mondays through Thursdays.

Check out the site and let Debra know what you think. If you're registered for the SearchWin2000.com Exchange Administration Tip, look for the premier edition of the Exchange Advisor today. If you're not, be sure to sign up for it.

     Expert Technical Advice:

    Featured Expert: Christa Anderson
    Category: Terminal Services

    Dear Christa:
I want to set up a Terminal Services environment. However, I wish to restrict users to only be able to see and run their specific applications. For example, users should only see icons for Word, Excel and Outlook on their desktops. They should not have access to anything else including Start, Control Panel, etc. How do I do this?

    Site Exclusives:
    >> Microsoft firewall dispels myth of hardware superiority
An updated version of Microsoft's Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server is proof that software firewalls have surpassed their hardware counterparts, one expert says.

    >> Incentives aim to nudge users off Windows NT
With extended support for Windows NT 4.0 ending this year, Microsoft is creating a number of incentive programs to move NT users to newer versions of its server operating system.

    >> Survey: IT spending back from the dead
According to a recent survey conducted by SearchWin2000.com and other TechTarget Web sites, enterprises are bullish about information technology spending.

Tip of the Week: Troubleshooting 'Conflicting Credentials' errors between Windows systems
When Windows NT, 2000, XP and 2003 systems establish connections between each other for file and printer sharing, permissions for those connections are verified by passing a username and password from the client to the server. Many times an attempt to connect from one machine to another is frustrated by an error that reads: The credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials.
