Expert Technical Advice: When I try to print from the Web my desktop reboots

    Featured Expert: Laura Hunter

    Category: Network Management
    Dear Laura,
I recently set up a laptop with Windows XP over a wireless network to share a printer attached to my desktop running Windows 2000. The desktop is my connection to NTL broadband via a router. When I print from my laptop in MS Word everything is ok, but if I try to print from the Web my desktop reboots and nothing prints. Any ideas what would make my desktop reboot?

Site Exclusives: A kinder, gentler Microsoft?
    >> Microsoft-focused user groups form coalition
With Redmond's blessing, more than a dozen user groups have joined forces to maximize their resources. The organization, to be called Culminis Inc., will represent about 7.5 million IT professionals from various user groups.
    >> Microsoft customer feedback loop envisioned
Rich Kaplan, the head of Microsoft's online resources unit says users will soon have a direct link to Redmond's product-development teams.
    >> Sound off: Microsoft's new customer-focused initiatives
What's your take on Redmond's outreach to enterprise IT? Is Culminis a good way for IT professionals to communicate their concerns directly to Microsoft? Will the proposed "feedback loop" work to put user needs in the MS product-development pipeline? Tell us what you think!

    Tip of the Week:
RUNAS has several limitations, not the least of which is there being no really elegant way to pass a username and password to the program without actually typing it in. This makes it almost worthless for applications that need to run in a protected context without the user knowing the password. Here are some user-submitted workarounds.
