Microsoft scales back Longhorn for 2006 launch [CNET] Microsoft will cut back on some of the features it had planned for the next version of Windows so that the software maker can hit a target release of the first half of 2006. Longhorn will still feature a new file system, graphics engine and Web services architecture, but they will not be as robust in their initial iteration.
