Multiple variants of a new worm target critical Microsoft Windows XP and 2000 flaws. Thousands of PCs reportedly have been "sassed" so far.

Windows XP SP2 isn't the only service pack baking in Redmond's oven. Microsoft is also working on the first pack for Windows Server 2003. It's expected to ship later this year -- right now, it's reportedly in the hands of private testers.
Windows XP: 210 million copies and counting

Microsoft says that it's been selling 10 million copies of Windows XP per month for the last nine months -- a sign that the PC market is rebounding. MS announced this at its Windows Hardware Engineering Conference, where the company is also expected to update manufacturers on the system requirements of Longhorn.
IBM 'Stinger' set to stun SQL Server

IBM's latest DB2 Universal Database leaves the nest today. The product, code-named Stinger, incorporates more Linux-based features and will challenge SQL Server and Oracle 10g for the hearts and souls of DBAs.

The Missing Link: eBay wedding gown turns frowns upside down

His former bride didn't love him, but evidently everyone else does. A Seattle man who put his ex-wife's wedding dress up for bid on eBay has turned into an Internet hit -- more than 6 million hits, the most in the site's history. Why all the buzz? For one thing, Larry Star modeled the dress. As a hairy, stocky man, he is one ugly bride -- even with his face blotted out. Star also included some hysterically bitter commentary with
the dress description, calling it "a $1,200 shower curtain" for which his "drunken sot of an ex-father-in-law" never reimbursed him. When bidding closed last week, Star had a $3,850 offer and 15 minutes of fame. Not bad, considering all he wanted from the frock was enough money for beer and baseball tickets.
