If you find yourself fighting fires when it comes to Windows security, you're certainly not alone. Many IT professionals address Windows security reactively rather than proactively, often because they just don't have the time to plan ahead. To help ease this burden, I'd like to introduce you to a new site that you may or may not have visited already -- SearchWindowsSecurity.com.

As the editor of the new site, I'd like to tell you about some brand new additions, including our Fast Guide: XP SP2 security. As a quick overview, the Windows security information you once found on SearchWin2000.com is now available on SearchWindowsSecurity.com. We've taken that library of useful information and added many new tips, articles, features and directory tools. Here's a rundown of recent updates:

All that was just for starters! You can edit your profile page to gain access to all of the above features and sign up for our Windows Security Adviser newsletter, our daily compilation of Microsoft news and Windows security expert advice, delivered Tuesday through Thursday.

I hope you'll check out the site when you get a chance. If you have any thoughts, comments or topic suggestions, please drop me an e-mail to let me know what's on your mind. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Have a great week!
    Robyn Lorusso

    >> Active Directory Tip: Group Policy Management Console
If you've been working with Active Directory for any length of time, you've probably run across the problem of remembering where a specific GPO is located within a complex AD infrastructure. Under Windows 2000 and Windows 2003, you have to hunt and seek on your own through the AD consoles looking through sites, domains and OUs to find a specific GPO. However, this common time wasting activity can be avoided with the installation a new tool from Microsoft -- The Group Policy Management Console.

    >> Expert Advice: How to properly remove Windows ME from a system
Dear Bernie Klinder: The computer I bought from a vendor has both Windows ME and Windows XP installed. My computer is not very stable and will freeze occasionally no matter what applications I run. How do I remove the Windows ME in order to stabilize the computer?

    Tip of the Week:
Windows File Protection prevents changes from being made to certain protected system files. In the event one of these files is changed, a backup copy of the file is restored from a special repository. The exact list of files that are protected, however, can be a bit mysterious. Serdar Yegulalp explains how this freeware can help you locate these protected files.
