Halloween is approaching...trick or treat! See if you can find all of the spooooky Windows terms in this word search puzzle. These scary terms and phrases have been hidden in the grid -- up, down, forward, backward, or diagonally. Within a word search puzzle, words can overlap; i.e., a letter can be part of two or more words. But beware, you never know who may be haunting you! Go ahead and take a stab at this puzzle!

When you've completed the word search, send me an e-mail and let me know what words you found. Your name will be entered into a drawing for a TechTarget insulated wine tote for two, and at the end of the month we'll pick a lucky winner. Good luck!

    >> Checklist: XP Service Pack 2 pre-installation
Bernie Klinder, a Microsoft MVP and technology consultant, provides a pre-installation checklist to help you prepare and plan for a trouble-free XP Service Pack 2 installation. You may also download a printer-friendly version.

    >> Download: SPVerify helps insure Service Packs and hotfixes install correctly
SPVerify is a Microsoft-authored command-line tool that simulates installing a Windows Service Pack or hotfix -- a sort of "preflight check" that determines what will be copied where when the actual installation takes place.

    >> First Take: Google desktop search (beta)
Google recently released its Desktop Search Tool. Rod Trent, MVP and editor of myITforum.com, installs the beta and reports on how the new Google search tool stacks up to the competition.

    Tip of the Week:
For the most part, the domain account for a client computer is self-maintaining. However, from time to time, especially in very large domain networks, the account becomes disjoined or otherwise fails to function properly. Expert James Michael Stewart explains how to tackle the problem.
