There was, but like you, many folks are wary of *.0 anything, so in a
way it was treated like beta version.
However, the real stumbling block for real use is third party package
support -- I know I'm dead in the water until numpy and wxpython and
PIL, and??? are ported to py3.
numpy is on it's way, but it will be at least 6 months, probably longer.
I don't think anyone's really started on wxPython yet.
So it will be a while.
Anyway, a lot of folks are still using 2.3 or 2.4, so I thin 2.7 support
will be around for LONG time.
