The same is possible, on a Mac, with TextWrangler, the free version of BBEdit. http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/

It has limited auto-complete, but no auto-indent for Python. But what it does have, which I find valuable, is the ability to run a python script from within the editor (shell and apple scripts, maybe perl? too). Whatever installation of Python you put in the #! line will be addressed, and the results are written into a log file in the editor. There are limits to this procedure if you're doing os stuff, but I find it useful for trying things out. Jon
