Peppy is not in Ubuntu 10.10 and its home page says it works only with
Python 2.5, not with 2.6 or 3.
I should send him a note suggesting he update the page -- Peppy works
just fine with Python2.6, and probably 2.7. 3.* is out, as there is no
wxPython for 3.* yet.
Python 2.5 is not in Ubuntu either so
I'd have to install it manually just to install Peppy. :( Too bad,
I've always wanted an extensible Python editor, and Pippy has a lot of
neat features and good-looking syntax highlighting from the
screenshots.
grab the tarball, and fire it up -- all you need is wxPython (pyEnchant
is nice if you want spell checking). Better yet, get it from SVN, that's
what I do, it's nice to get the bleeding edge, and it's easier of you
want to contribute patches.
For any of you that are Emacs fans, Peppy has an Emacs key bindings mode
(I thought I'd seen something about a VI mode, too, but I don't see that
anywhere right now)
