EMC Isilon also uses Python for testing.

The Portland Python user group is named either "PDX Python" or "Portland
Pythoneers." As I'm sure you would agree, "SeaPIG" is infinitely better.

Clearly, enough of a reason to move to Seattle. But how's the Python job market
up there? There appear to be many SDET, etc. positions at {{ big_company }}
using Python, which isn't quite what I'm interested in.

I'm already employed elsewhere as a remote worker, but wondering about my
precious future.

Best,
Andrew

PDX Python is an awesome name for a user group.

PDX is an airport. A SeaPIG is an actual animal. At one of our Northwest Python
Days an oceanographer had a slide showing a SeaPIG.

Ah, crap. I thought my joke would go unnoticed. And my real name is
attached. Foolish.

PDX is more than an airport to someone who lives in PDX. SeaPIGs are slimy.

However, I will admit that we could've been more creative with the naming.

Just off the top of my head:

EnergySavvy, Yapta, Walk Score

all use python for application development (not just testing)

F5 uses it at least for some testing, as does Tableau Software

Hey Andrew,

There are a bunch of companies in Seattle that are hiring Python folks to do
actual software development and build products rather than test scripting at {{
big_company }}. You won't be lost :-)

EnergySavvy (I'm the CTO there), BigDoor, Yapta and RootMetric just to name a
couple off the top of my head.
