When I was running RH 6.2 the front button of my Compaq Presario would
be able to put the system to sleep. After 'upgrading' to 7.1 this
functionality
seems to be broken along with the fact that when the system Is halted it
will not be able
turn itself off.
I downloaded the 2.4.5 kernel and tried compiled the kernel with APM on.
Here is how I set the options for APM.
Power Management support (CONFIG_PM) [Y/n/?]
Advanced Power Management BIOS support (CONFIG_APM) [Y/m/n/?]
Ignore USER SUSPEND (CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_USER_SUSPEND) [N/y/?]
Enable PM at boot time (CONFIG_APM_DO_ENABLE) [N/y/?]
Make CPU Idle calls when idle (CONFIG_APM_CPU_IDLE) [N/y/?]
Enable console blanking using APM (CONFIG_APM_DISPLAY_BLANK) [N/y/?]
RTC stores time in GMT (CONFIG_APM_RTC_IS_GMT) [N/y/?]
Allow interrupts during APM BIOS calls (CONFIG_APM_ALLOW_INTS) [Y/n/?]
Use real mode APM BIOS call to power off
(CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF) [Y/n/?]
I built istalled the kernel and rebooted. The system goes into sleep
bode but cannot be
reawakened. Also when halted it continues to not power Off.
Is there anything else I have to set ? Does anyone have a kernel
configuration
which will work ?
Thanks....
