We want to continue to use outlook on the desktop (we need to use windows on
the desktop because of the users and custom software) but we are looking for
something that can serve up a calendar to outlook's calendar client. Kind
of like what exchange does.

StarOffice 5.2 (the commercial CD from Sun Microsystems) have a
functionality like this.
Evolution is beta software, but I'll handle LDAP databases that can be
implemented with OpenLDAP (I don't know if it's compatible with Exchange).
Browsing freshmeat.net could reveal other software...

Hello,
I got kind of a strange problem. We use Linux for our servers with Windows
clients running MS Office 2000.
What the directors want to do is to use the calendar functionallity of
Outlook to do shared calendars but (here is the problem) they do not want
to
share them off with the net folders and they do not want to use a web based
calendar (they want it to function like an exchange server).
Is there anything out there for linux that would allow me to do this
because
I REALLY REALLY REALLY do not want to put an exchange server in here just
so
they can do there calendar.
Please help so I can put out an option besides using exchange.
