I actually read your email. ;-)

I think this is what you are looking for.

It is commercial but it will run on a stable operating system.(linux)

look for the "insight server" product.
I have not used it but I heard a couple of good things about the company.  
They use open standards/protocols to implement the same functions as 
exchange server.
There is a pdf available on their website with directions for configuring 
outlook to use the server.

They also have an email client on sourceforge that was 
very well thought of (tradeclient)
