Yes, I noticed this also but never bothered to look into
it coz I had no idea what was going on and it didn't cause
MAJOR problems.

Your email has made it easy to look into!
Coz it says the diff is between 7.0 and 7.1 and I've got
servers running both:
default 7.0 is vim57
default 7.1 is vim6.0z

Now ... if you read /usr/share/vim/vim60z/doc/cmdline.txt
it says "vi" has no command line history (a compile time
option) and "vim" has a history of 20

So a workable (but stupid) solution is to use "vim" instead
of "vi" (but I haven't noticed yet if there are any major
incompatabilities)

But ... why the hell have they done this?
This is sooooo stupid!
It is even documented - so are they trying to push people
off "vi" and onto "vim"???
Does someone from Microshaft work on the vim dev team?
