Hello;
     you need a swap partition at least 2x memory size.
I do not and will not have W2k, M$ O.S.need a primary partition to boot from.
This means /dev/hda1, 2, 3, or 4.

/dev/hda1 250M /boot
/dev/hda2 ?G   /w98
/dev/hda3 ?G   /w2k
/dev/hda4 rest (5) extended

note: you cannot make a swap(82) or extended (5) with Disk Druid, use fdisk

/dev/hda5 1G   /
/dev/hda6 512M swap for 256M ram (at least 2x memory size)
/dev/hda7 1G   /home
/dev/hda8 500M /var
/dev/hda9 4G   /usr

This is rough but should work.
Make the partitions under linux, then install M$, then install Linux.
Making w2k (NT5) boot is out of my experience.
I usually use lilo in the mbr, now with Roswell it's grub in the mbr.

You also don't mention if the hard drive is ATA-33, ATA-66, or ATA-100.
You may need special command line switches to get a ATA-100 to load.
