My ISP upgraded recently as well. The end result was that my 
Win/Mac boxes were smarter than the Linux machine and continued to 
work. Linux would fail regularly.

   My solution was to switch to PAP (or CHAP) authentication. If it is 
set up correctly, you should not see the login prompt from the 
terminal server hosting your connection. My ISP helped diagnose this 
as well.
