Most probably the relevant XFree server for the different video card was not
installed.
For example, if the original system had a ATI rage based card  the default
install would have the XFree86-Mach64 server
The SIS card would use either the SVGA or the SiS depending

rpm -qa |grep -i xfree

to see what is/is not installed
