No Linux here to test, just guessing.
Perhaps you can Ctrl-Alt-Fx to go to a console, login as root, do a 'ps
aux', and kill the xlock or xscreensaver process. Can anyone confirm that?

The question of fixing the problem of people xlocking their machines
sems easy. You can't really lock your screen; at least in gnoime.
If you come upon a locked screen you just type <ctl>-<ALT>-<backspace>
anf the system goes back to the login screen.
