Remember that key personnel that work on the official kernel also work for
RedHat (see Alan Cox).  So some and/or a lot of the patches are incorporated
into RedHat's kernel even if a version or two lower depending on what the
fix is for.

Don't know if that is the case now but I am assuming that happens a decent
amount anyway one way or another.
