hello all, I would like to ask for a few minutes of your time to make suggestions/recommendations: I intend to use the following setup in our university:
**************************************** * Building A * *WorkStations ----\ (RH7.1) * Building B * \ Linux Box * *File Server ------> HUB1<-- Proxy, ---->HUB2-->F.O.-->HUB3<--Internet * / nic1 firewall, * nic2 *Database Server -/ Gateway * **************************************** Summary: Building A *Workstations, File & Database Server connected to hub1 *Linux box (rh7.1,proxy, firewall, gateway) connected to hub1 by nic1 & to hub2 by nic2. *hub2 & hub3 connected thru fiber optic link Building B *also has workstations and servers *webserver that serves internet connection to the university Purpose: *Secure Building A *Connect to the internet thru Building B Questions: 1) Will the linux box prevent viruses from penetrating Win98/NT PCs in Building A? 2) What is the minimum hardware specs of the linux box that you can recommend? 3) Will the above setup be able to secure Building A from malicious attacks? 4) What can you further recommend? I really need your recommendations and suggestions.
