Redhat 7.1 supports software RAID which will allow you to mirror a hard
drive to a second drive. The operating system cannot boot from a
secondary drive because before booting, there is no OS yet. Maybe your
BIOS skips a defect master drive and boots from a second hard drive, but
I wouldn't depend on it. If you really need this you could try hardware
RAID devices like the DupliDisk or controllers like the (discontinued)
3ware Escalades.
