I have installed various *.rpm packages on a new system which all work great. For some reason I went to "uninstall"/erase a package and RPM errored out giving "XZY1 package not installed". Before installing any packages I initialized the database "rpm --initdb" and "rpmdb --initdb". Is there something else I am missing? I would like to continue to use this package manager but if I continue to have this problem I will be forced to use other means (i.e. the good 'ol source make combo.)
