Thanks, Roy and Stephen!

Have already been to the xfree.org site.  Downloaded all the good stuff.
I ran into two problems:

(1) Not packaged as an RPM, so if I use it, it won't be tracked by the RPM database 
system.  "Not end of world, but I can see it
from there!"

(2) Xinstall.sh provided by xfree.org does not install in quite the same way as RedHat 
does, so things break.  I would have to track
down pretty much every link in the rather extensive number of files involved in a 
"startx" process.  Ack.  (I suppose it would be a
good learning process, if I had the time).

All that said, I finally got XFree86-4.1.0-25 (most recent provided for RedHat 7.1) to 
work on my box with the SiS chipset.  Not all
works, though, particularly drm and dri stuff.

Just to annoy me, RedHat DOES have 4.2.0 rpm's for newer versions of RedHat!
