Ohhh yeah, we know all about this one...
In the latest 7.2 errata, there is an updated SCSI driver, called
sym53c8xx_2. This is a back-port of the 2.4.18 Symbios driver,
and it (mostly) fixes the scsi hang on boot issues for the x4000.
we're currently using the 2.4.9-34 kernel on the x4000's
make sure the scsi host adapter line in your /etc/modules.conf
says
alias scsi_hostadapter sym53c8xx_2
re-make your initrd image, and you should be lots happier.

Hello everyone in linuxland, i was wondering if there is anyone out there haveing problems with hpx4000,s when booting. The isssue im having when booting is it seems to hang when probeing the scsi bus, i have looked all over the redhat erratas and only found one fix, which is to upgrade the kernel, and currently this is not an option that i can do, because of development/application issues. The problem is very intermittant, the system uses a qlogic chipset for scsi, and the module loaded is sym53c8xx. The kernel version is 2.4.9-6smp on linux redhat 7.1 .How would i enable debuging for this in the kernel, or logging? The errata also says another fix is to boot only off one processesor, wich is not an option for my app lication. Thanks everyone_______________________________________________ Seawolf-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/seawolf-list
