I have very little experience with win2000, so I can't help there,
sorry.  As for the hub:  Connect your win2000 box's ethernet card to the
hub with an ethernet patch cable (NOT a crossover cable).  Ask your
local electronics store for assistance in picking out the right cables,
if you don't already have them.  Also connect the ethernet card in you
Linux box to another port in the same hub.  You will probably also need
to plug the hub's power supply into a wall outlet, and the power supply
connector to the hub.  Follow the instructions that come with the hub.

Now, you will need a spare ethernet card in the win2000 box!  One
ethernet connection is probably being used by the internet connection
(via cable modem, DSL modem, or whatever...)  That's a good question to
know the answer to...  How exactly is the win2000 box connected to the
internet?
