Mike from Briar has initiated a discussion on ways to solve the challenge of keeping devices synchronized for messaging (and social) purposes, in particular regarding the maintenance of public keys and the possibility of loss of related private keys.
I have been contributing the perspective of secushare, solving this challenge by using shared pubsubs between the devices and using what we described in http://secushare.org/threats The discussion unfolded quite in-depth, it also went a bit astray, led by the very different architectural interests of developers working for Whatsapp and TextSecure. Finally, the idea that this would probably be solved best by anonymous multicast pubsub has not been challenged.
