Linux - I can get it practically for free, it is extremely
configurable and most software for it is free as well. A reasonable
combination, coupled with the fact that I already had experience in
it.
Two more computers would make for this:
* One workstation (already have this)
* One web server (already have this)
* One DNS server (new)
* One mail server (new)
Three new computers sound better to me. This will give me two DNS
servers (named primary and secondary). I do want to set up an off-site
backup MX as well, which means another computer which would most
likely be an unnamed slave DNS for the domains in question to ensure
redundancy.
I have been talking about the implications of a site defacement
before, but might bring it up again. We all know what it looks like to
go to one company's web site and end up with one looking like the
worst competitor's site. Or worse yet, ending up there. (HTTP
redirection.)
Thank you for your mails - this certainly gives me some more
arguments.
