Thats why any system is only as good as its admin.
Prime benefits of Linux (or any Unix):

Almost no viruses
Good separation of capabilities. You are not always root.
Lots of tools to automate stuff. Not so easily available on NT.

And of course, it is impossible to make anything foolproof because
fools are so ingenious. Keep that in mind as well.
