Hi there,

You could install another copy of the OS on the hard disk, say in
C:\WINNT2, this would allow you to have a peek at some of the data left on
the hard disk. As for attaching it to your network, I wouldn't do that if I
were you. You have no idea as to what is running on that laptop. Better to
leave it disconnected until you know what's on it.
Be sure to wipe and reinstall the machine before you connect it to the
network.
