I am afraid this idea is not really useful. In fact, I couldn't name an e-mail
virus this method would prevent from spreading.
It is definitely useless against viruses that don't use exclusively Outlook
address books for picking the recipients - like Nimda, Hybris, Magistr, Sircam.
It does not have any effect on those viruses, that use their SMTP engine for
spreading (see again the above list), as this mechanism does not receive the
delivery error message from the SMTP server.
It could have some effect on VBScript mass-mailers, that use Outlook address
books for recipients and Outlook for sending the messages, however these
viruses don't check if any of the messages fails to deliver, and Outlook itself
will not abort the sending of the other messages.
The only positive effect could be that the user is warned about the mail being
sent out - but this can be easuer achieved by placing his own address in his
first address book.
