Mark Maher Ochsner Medical Foundation >>> "leon" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 10/20/01 10:34AM >>> Hi everyone, I hope we are all having a good weekend. Please pardon me if this has been covered on the list already (I searched the archives under what I thought would be appropriate subjects and did not find exactly what I was looking for). I am interested in going after a security certification. When I say security certification I mean a certification in and of security itself (not a vendor supplied one like Cisco's CSS-1 or Checkpoints CCSE). I know of the CISSP and have begun to look into but when I talk to recruiters and peers a lot of people tell me it is not a very respected cert (nothing against CISSP, this is just what I am told). I am curious; can someone point me in the right direction? What are some good well respected vendor neutral security certifications? Is the CISSP the most respected one? What are some of the benefits of being a CISSP? Are there others (certs)? Does anyone have any links, tips or suggestions? All is appreciated and responses are welcome privately as well as publicly. Flames go to /dev/null heh. Cheers, Leon
