Sounds like your're there. I don't know the extent of Mandrakes "High" security level, but I would due the following (at least):
1. Turn off telnet, rlogin and ftp. Instead use SSH, slogin and sftp. 2. Turn off all unnecessary services in /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf. If you have any questions about a specific service just look it up in google. 3. If you use POP for your e-mail, try to use APOP/SPOP/SSL or some sort of encryption. 4. You may want to find out if your ISP is on a hubbed network or a switched network (most likely the latter of the two). If they are on a hubbed network than anything you do outside of your firewall you'll want encrypted. That's pretty much all. If you're not TOO public, you don't have THAT much to worry about. -Matt On Saturday 24 November 2001 05:37, you wrote: > To all High Speed Connection Users, > > I need your help, I'm getting ready to step up from a PPP connection to > ADSL and with your assistance, I would like to know some of the security > steps to take when using ADSL.
