it's possible for tcp wrappers to cause an error like that, see if ssh is 
allowed in, or denied in /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny , if it is 
blocked you can add "sshd: ALL" or "sshd: 1.2.3.4" 1.2.3.4 being the ip of 
the machines gonig in., it also might be a good idea to add "ALL: 127.0.0.1" 
in there.
