Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. I talked to a friend who has the same
cable provider, and he said he'd never had that problem -- thing is, it may
be something that the cable provider started doing more recently. This guy'd
been running the cable router for about a year and a half.

Just curious as the router never had trouble with ADSL ...

Thanks all.

Thanks for the responses.

Yes, as far as the hardware end goes, I have tried resetting the cable
modem, as well as powering it up and then the router; also I tried powering
up the router first, then the modem; setting up all the would-be connections
to the router with the modem on (and off) and then powering up the router.

I think it's possibly along the lines of what Mr. Fitzpatrick suggested with
the hardware addies. As mentioned, it picked up a dynamic IP immediately
when connected to an internal LAN. I have a friend who works for the cable
company (who's nearly impossible to get a hold of) who may be able to answer
that ... maybe even clear out my cached MAC address. ;) At any rate, it's
likely something simple .. that's always the way it seems to be.

Thanks!
