I don't know about using GPS to find the intruder in this scenario (I doubt
you can) but 100 yards isn't necessarily so- many WAP points these days can
transmit up to 1500 yards or more. Also, it's not hard to obtain antennae
for use with a surreptitious wireless rig- for about $90 US you can get an
omni that attaches to a car with a nice little pigtail for your PCMCIA
wireless adapter that increases your range by a huge amount- potentially up
to half a mile or more depending on many factors. Some folks have made
directional antennas of their own that can provide incredible LOS range.
