hello list, I need your tips for building my personal network and having part of your experience in security. I have a second desktop and I would like to host a http, ftp, smtp, and mysql servers. this second desktop must route my traffic from my first desktop and be use as a firewall. It will be an heterogenous network because I think it's better to host servers on linux OS; my first desktop is a multi OS XP - redhat system I have the following questions: is there some problems from hosting webserver on the firewall? I can't buy dedied firewall... which kind of operating system is better? I would have yours tips; I suppose that debian is better, but I'm not sure that I have qualifications for administrate it. redhat is a good choice? and wich kind of steps must don't be forgiven in settings? I know that is a large question, but I want to benefit from yours tips and experience thanks in advance for yours answers
