hey gang -

The Solaris 10 Security Essentials book has been officially published!
http://www.amazon.com/Solaris-Security-Essentials-Microsystems-Engineers/dp/0137012330

While the title implies this is just for Solaris 10, all of the
concepts apply to OpenSolaris as well, though a few of the
examples may slightly differ between the two operating systems.

This text goes in depth for some of the most useful security
features in the operating system, including: Zones virtualization
security, system hardening, Trusted Extensions, priveleges & RBAC,
cryptographic services, IPfilter, IPsec, PAM, etc.

You have probably seen posts from many of the authors here before:
Glenn Brunette, Hai-May Chao, Martin Englund, Glenn Faden, Mark Fenwick,
Valerie Anne Fenwick, Wyllys Ingersoll, Wolfgang Ley, Darren Moffat,
Pravas Kumar Panda, Jan Pechanec, Mark Phalan, Darren Reed,
Scott Rotondo, Christoph Schuba, Sharon Read Veach, Joep Vesseur,
and Paul Wernau. It was a pleasure to work with all of them, especially
Sharon, who also served as our patient editor.

Having never written a book before, there were many things in
the process that surprised me, but all of our hard work has paid
off and we ended up with an excellent finished product that we're
all proud of :-)

None of this would've been possible without the hard work and
perseverance from our project manager, Jim Siwila!

Enjoy!

Valerie
