All,

FYI. Today, we are happy to announce the release of the OpenSolaris
VPC Gateway Tool v0.1!

This tool automates the process of creating an Amazon Virtual Private
Cloud using OpenSolaris as a Customer Gateway (endpoint) for the IPsec/
IKE connections. Short blog about it is at:

http://blogs.sun.com/gbrunett/entry/new_opensolaris_vpc_gateway

Source code, details, and documentation are at:

http://kenai.com/projects/osolvpc/pages/Home

This is a great example showing how Sun IP can continue to integrate
with and build upon the Amazon cloud computing efforts. To date, we
have demonstrated security capabilities on S3 (Cloud Safety Box,
Encrypted ZFS Backups), EC2 (Immutable Service Containers, Security
Enhanced OpenSolaris Images), and today we establish the link back
to the traditional data center using OpenSolaris as the gateway
with security functionality (IPsec/IKE/etc.) at its very core.

Whether we are talking about securing data in transit, at rest or
in use, we can continue to demonstrate how Sun IP can be relevant
regardless of whose Cloud is being used (public, private, or hybrid).
Amazon is a good example since it is publicly available and anyone
can give it a try, but using Eucalyptus (for example) these kinds
of capabilities can often be leveraged outside of Amazon as well[1]

Love to get your feedback.

Glenn, Dan, Dileep

[1] Eucalyptus does not yet support VPCs, however, but the other
elements mentioned should be able to work just fine on a Eucalyptus-
based cloud.
