I'm an experienced information security administrator, network administrator,
and general UNIX systems administrator[0]. I live and currently consult
in Silicon Valley, and I'm interested in finding a permanent position
with a startup or other small company.
The kind of place I'm looking for:
-Considers security a top priority
-Isn't already married to a single vendor for all security
products
-Offers a small and dynamic environment where a skilled and
motivated individual can make a difference on a day-to-day
basis
I'm willing to entertain almost any offer, but I'm really interested in
working for a startup---I've spent the last several months working with
people organising startups or participating in organising them myself---but
I'm also interested in any company otherwise meeting the requirements
above. The only thing I'm dead set against is working for a large,
soul-crushing bureaucracy.
In addition to having worked for startups, I've worked for everything
from universities to large Silicon Valley biotechs. I'm used to working
alone, and I've lead teams. I'm skilled at firewall administration,
NIDS design and implementation, PKI administration, code review, drafting
policy, writing functional specifications for security applications, and
just about any information security related task an organisation might need.
I currently live in the Silicon Valley/San Jose area. I'm an aggressive
driver with a couple fast cars, so a commute to the City or East Bay
isn't really a problem. I'd consider relocation for a sufficiently
interesting position. I'm really interested in a full-time position, but
I'm currently consulting.
