Take the job.  It likely pays more than unemployment benefits and will
give you a steady income while you can either work your way up to what
you previously earned, or you can find another job that pays more.  As
they say, the best time to look for a job is when you have one.

I make just less than half of my previous position, and had been out of
work for 5 months when I found this one.  It's not my dream job, nor is it
something I even enjoy doing or advancing my career because it's not
security related.  However, it beats being broke, losing our home, and not
being able to provide for my wife and kids.  It could be a while before
you come across another job, so why risk being unemployed that whole time?

Take the job and keep looking, unless you're absolutely sure something
better is definitely going to come along and/or this position doesn't pay
enough to make ends meet.  Still, some money is better than no money.
