To use 110 VAC appliances on 220 VAC you need a 220 VAC to 110 VAC converter;
to use 220 VAC appliances on 110 VAC you need a 110 VAC to 220 VAC converter.

On the other hand, most european TV's won't work in North America because
they use a different standard...
