Debbie .. try turning your hardware graphics down a notch or two ..
right click an empty spot on your desktop and go to properties .. then
settings .. then advanced .. and you will see a tab called performance ..
take the setting down a notch ... or all the way to none.

Solved a lot of problems I've come across, especially with Win98 ..
Dell/Gateway computers.  Nvidia video cards are notorious for unexpected
problems with certain softwares.
