Hello...

I'm confused. How do these people make their money?

        https://www.safeweb.com/

According to everything I've been able to find, Safeweb is totally free and
comes without any advertisement... or "any strings attached." From their
www page:

"By providing a free, effective, fully functional, easy-to-use, and
universally accessible service, SafeWeb makes online privacy a viable
option for Internet users around the world."

And also from one of their pages:

"SafeWeb acts as an intermediary between an individual user's computer and
all Web sites visited. SafeWeb encrypts all data transmitted between a
user's computer and the SafeWeb server, making it impossible for anyone to
pry into that user's online activities and communications. This powerful
technology protects users from intrusions by all outside parties, including
Web sites, direct marketers, employers, government agencies, malicious
hackers ("crackers"), and ISPs. Anyone with Internet access can make their
Web experience private and secure by beginning their browsing session from
the SafeWeb home page: www.safeweb.com."

So... I give up!! All this free, free, free stuff... how do they survive?
Is this a legitimate outfit? And... how do they *really* make their money??
Does anyone else on this list smell a rat here?? Or... am I being paranoid?
<looking both ways carefully> <g>

Along the same theme, can anyone suggest a www-page that can be
*trusted*... one that evaluates these kinds of services... discusses
privacy issues... and offers legitimate solutions (not necessarily free stuff)?

Thanks in advance!!
