In a previous post, I gave a very brief answer to your question. I
cannot find any depth on Louis C. Candelaria in the WWW. That site I
referenced seems to be the only thing available on the subject.
I did, however, find a fascinating book at Amazon and probably other
book stores as well. It is story of the early commercial and Pan
American flights over the Andes from 1926 to 1967. I cannot say for
sure, but the book might detail the earlier exploits of Candelaria
et. al. Even if it does not, I think you will find this a fascinating
book toward your interests:
